Naveen Ayala
Naveen is a high school student from Stockton, California, interested in medicine, health policy, and the relationship between insurance systems and access to care.
Through physician shadowing, healthcare-focused programs, and independent learning, he became especially interested in the administrative barriers patients and clinicians face—including coverage confusion, medication access, prior authorization, and claim denials.
He founded Coverage Compass to turn that interest into a public-serving educational project: a place where patients and families can find clearer explanations, prepare better questions, locate trustworthy resources, and understand how healthcare advocacy works.
The initiative also reflects a commitment to learning directly from physicians, patients, caregivers, community organizations, and policy professionals. Coverage Compass does not claim institutional or clinical authority; its purpose is to make reliable starting points easier to find and understand.
Why this work matters to me
Healthcare decisions are often made during moments of uncertainty. A family may be trying to understand a denial while managing an illness, or a physician may be spending time navigating administrative requirements instead of caring for patients. Clear education cannot solve every structural problem, but it can help people ask better questions, identify the responsible decision-maker, and take a more informed next step.
Coverage Compass is my effort to contribute to that process while continuing to learn how medicine, policy, insurance, and advocacy intersect.
